“What a great sister I am. I realize that we haven’t told you what a wonderful, marvelous wedding Cindy and Mike had. It was truly one of the greats – and we’ve had a lot over the years. All our younger generation thought it was a ball and they loved the dancing, as well as the very meaningful service. It was really the bride and groom’s moment and their wedding in every sense of the word. We loved it. So much thought went into all the details – and there were so many. The book theme was great, right down to the library bits – and each was personalized. I was touched to see Mama’s engagement ring on Cindy’s finger. I remember so well when she received it in the summer of 1940. There was such electricity in the air. Mama had many admirers, but I never had the sense that wedding bells were to be part of the picture. But once she met Papa, that was it – and it was truly a love match.
